Silverleaves House | Phillip Island
A bold reawakening of a 1970s home, Silverleaves House transforms a dated bathroom into a grounded yet spectacular retreat.

Retaining the drama of the original raked ceilings, we softened the space with pink Rosetta stone tiles, Robert Gordon Kiln 360 Rose Quartz basins, and tactile, nature-inspired finishes.

Custom cabinetry and a generous walk-in shower replaced the old corner spa, creating a sense of openness and quiet luxury.

Subtle nods to the home’s era remain, but are reframed through a lens of maximalist elegance and sensory-aware design.

Silverleaves House exemplifies how thoughtful renovation can honour a home’s story while elevating it for modern, accessible living.

Challenges and Solutions
The greatest challenge was not the floorplan but finding a flooring solution that complemented the existing custom concrete floor, which featured striking shades of royal blue. After much deliberation, we chose a timber-look subway tile. Although smaller than we initially envisioned, it was the only option that convincingly mimicked natural timber while seamlessly connecting the two flooring elements.
Design Highlights
The standout feature of this transformation is undoubtedly the vanity wall. Clad in Rosetta natural rose stone subway tiles from Perini Tiles, it adds warmth and sophistication to the space. Removing the bulky corner spa allowed us to install an expansive 1800mm-long vanity, complete with Kiln 360 basins in Rose Quartz by Robert Gordon Interiors and handles by Sibella Court.
The vanity is complemented by sleek white wall-mounted tapware and LED mirrors, which enhance both the functionality and elegance of the space.
On the opposing wall, we opted for large-format 1200x600 gloss white tiles, which enhance the room’s sense of light and space. A striking black shower rail and mixer create a bold contrast, while black accents continue in the vanity’s kickboard and handles, softened with natural fiber wrapping for a tactile, organic finish.
The Result
The Silverleaves House bathroom now boasts a spectacular yet earthy charm, perfectly balancing contemporary design with a connection to the home’s original character. By addressing the client’s needs and incorporating artisanal elements like the Kiln 360 basins, this project stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful, tailored design.
