Custom Furnishings & Reupholstery

The pieces that make a home feel like yours

Some things cannot be found on a shelf.

A beautiful room is rarely finished with the big decisions alone. It is the cushion with the perfect contrast piping, the lampshade that picks up a colour from the wallpaper, the bedhead made to fit the room properly, or the old chair that has been given a completely new life.

At Brinnie T Design, we create custom furnishings and decorative pieces for homes across Phillip Island, Bass Coast, Melbourne and the Sunshine Coast. Each piece is designed around your room, your style and the way you actually live.

Whether you are finishing a full interior design project or simply have one much-loved chair that deserves saving, we can help you create something with personality, quality and staying power.

Custom cushions, throws and soft furnishings

Cushions are one of the easiest ways to bring a room together, but they can also be the detail that makes it feel a little more considered.

We design custom cushions, throws and soft furnishings using fabrics from our in-studio collection. Choose from beautiful plains, bold prints, velvet, linen, embroidery, trims and unexpected combinations, then add details such as contrast piping, fringing, backing fabrics or custom sizing.

These are not the cushions everyone else has. They are made to work with your sofa, bed, favourite chair, artwork, wallpaper and the rest of the room.

Bespoke bedheads and lampshades

A custom bedhead can completely change a bedroom. It gives the room a focal point, adds softness and lets you bring colour, pattern or texture into the space in a way that feels intentional.

We create bespoke upholstered bedheads in a range of shapes, finishes and fabrics, including relaxed flange styles, tailored designs and more decorative options. Each one is made to suit the proportions of your room and the look you are creating.

We also design custom lampshades to give new life to existing lamps or create a statement piece from scratch. A lampshade is a small thing, but it can make a surprising difference — especially when it is made in a fabric that ties the whole room together.

Reupholstery: keep the pieces you love

Reupholstery is one of my favourite ways to create a home with real character.

That old occasional chair, inherited armchair or slightly tired dining chair may have far more potential than it first appears. A good frame, interesting shape or family connection is worth keeping. With the right fabric and a few thoughtful details, it can become the piece everyone notices.

We work with trusted upholsterers to refresh chairs, ottomans, stools and other furniture pieces. We can help you choose fabric, consider durability and practicality, and add details such as contrast piping, trims or decorative finishes.

If you are unsure whether a piece is worth reupholstering, bring in a photo or send us the dimensions. We can talk through what is possible before you commit.

Custom artwork and picture reframing

Artwork should not be an afterthought.

We can help source or create custom artwork for your home, then arrange framing that suits both the piece and the room it will live in. Reframing is also a wonderful way to update existing artwork, family photographs, prints and sentimental pieces that no longer feel right in their current frame.

The right frame can make an old piece feel contemporary again, or turn a simple print into something that holds its own on the wall.

Fabrics, trims and beautiful details

How custom work happens

Our Cowes studio has a collection of fabric, wallpaper and trim samples to explore in person. We work with a range of suppliers, including Warwick Fabrics and the beautifully decorative Temperley London x Romo collections.

Come in and see the textures properly. Compare colours against your existing finishes. Play with the details. We will help you make choices that are beautiful, practical and right for your home.

Every custom piece is quoted individually, based on the item, fabric, size and level of detail involved.

You can visit the studio with an idea, a photo, a piece of furniture or simply a room that feels like it is missing something. From there, we will work through fabric options, measurements, finishes, lead times and pricing before anything is ordered or made.

Let’s make something beautiful !

Visit the Brinnie T Design studio in Cowes to explore fabrics and discuss your project, or get in touch to arrange a consultation.

Whether it is one special chair, a set of cushions, a custom bedhead or the finishing layer for an entire home, we would love to help you create something that feels unmistakably yours.
